ibidi launches the µ-Dish for long-term cell culture and imaging at BioTechnica

Munich, Germany, October 5th, 2005 -ibidi GmbH, a supplier of solutions for BioMicroscopy, has launched the µ-Dish, a novel petri dish that allows cells to be cultured, manipulated and imaged on one and the same dish.

The surface of the µ-Dish is specially treated and exhibits enhanced cell growth, as tested with over 20 cell lines and primary cell cultures. Due to the thin bottom, the µ-Dish is well suited for high resolution microscopy using any microscopic technique such as DIC, phase contrast and fluorescence.

A special locking feature of the lid prevents the evaporation of cell culture medium and allows long-term experiments without loss of humidity. Furthermore, the µ-Dish has a low height of the walls thus increasing the accessible working area in case of cell manipulation. This facilitates the handling of micro-pipettes for example with patch clamp and micro injection.
