Yorba Linda, CA - March 23, 2009 / b3c newswire / -  LabRoots Inc. announced today the official launch of its website, a social networking site for the scientific community. Beginning today, scientists and engineers from around the world can go to LabRoots.com to begin building relationships with other scientists and increasing their influence within the scientific community.  Aside from giving scientists a place to share their expertise and learn from one another, LabRoots offers the latest advanced data mining tools to improve scientist-to-scientist communication.  LabRoots reaches a global audience encompassing scientists from all disciplines.

LabRoots released the website to the public (in beta) five months ago, to get an idea of what the scientific community would think of a social networking platform specifically catered for them.  Thousands of scientists signed up and have come back to the website on a regular basis.  We received great feedback and we received constructive criticisms, so we made subtle changes to appeal to the users.

“We are very excited about the launch of LabRoots,” said Greg Cruikshank, CEO of LabRoots. “We have been working on the site for over a year now, so it’s nice to see it all come together. We hope the scientific community appreciates the website and utilizes its features to learn, connect and collaborate with others, and to really better the world by moving science forward.”

LabRoots is simple to join and use. Once signed up, users create a profile of themselves and their research interests. Up-to-the minute news of scientific discoveries and advancements in their field are delivered to users’ homepages based on the information provided in their profiles.  LabRoots makes it easy for scientists to discover meaningful collaborations regardless of location or field of expertise. In addition to connecting with others who share their interests, LabRoots users can ask and answer questions about their research and other topics, create and join groups, and review companies and products. Additionally, users can search for relevant publications directly from the site; bookmark important publications, and share them with others.
